Emily Gerstner is an artist and educator based on Muwekma Ohlone land, also known as Oakland, California. She is a reuse enthusiast who loves to make something from nothing, working with found fibers, cloth, paper, and other repurposed materials. Analog techniques like embroidery, bookmaking, mending clothing, quilting, and natural dye guide her practice.
Emily works to question waste and slow down patterns of consumption and disposal, believing that making do with less opens up possibilities for ingenuity and abundance.
